Urgent call for the fire in Ömeryan that got out of control 2020-06-14 17:46:51   MARDİN – The forest fire that has been continuing since June 11 in Ömeryan got out of control.  Local residents raised an urgent call for help as they have difficulties to intervene. The forest fire that has started in June 11 In the Ömeryan district of Mardin, which has been partly kept under control for days reinflamed again by yesterday night. As the local residents try to intervene, the fire got out of control due to the stiff wind. The fire completely affected the rural areas of Ahmetli (Qesra Ahmedê), Yardere (Qurdîsê) ve Dara in Artuklu (Qesra Ahmedê) district as well as Xerabê Bava, Büyükkardeş (Cinata Miho) ve Küçükkardeş (Cinata Hiso) in Nusaybin district.. It was announced from the Mosque speakers to the citizens to participate in the firefighting works. FIRE TRUCKS CAN NOT REACH THE ZONE The residents of the neighborhood noted that since the fire is in the mountain region the fire truck can not reach the fire zone. Residents called for support, warning that unless aerial firefighting is mobilized to intervene the fire, there is a high risk of spread to the residential area due to the wind. CALL FOR IMMEDIATE ACTION Citizens trying to put out the fire said that the entire region surrendered to flames and an urgent action is required.  The call of the local people is as follows: “The fire has spread all over the place. There is nothing that the fire brigade can do with their current equipment. We try our best but there is the stiff wind. An immediate action is required. Otherwise thousands of decares of forestland will surrender to the flames and it will spread to the villages. Whoever that are able to to something about it, should do it now. We need any kind of support to put out the fire.”
