Esenyurt under police blockade before HDP event 2020-06-16 14:53:56 İSTANBUL – Esenyurt square and all roads leading to it were blockaded by the police before the HDP event organized in scope of the 'March for democracy against coup'. The People's Democratic Party (HDP) started their march from two different points, Edirne and Hakkari against the coup aiming to arrive at Ankara. The march from Edirne was started with a press statement near Edirne Prison where former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş is being held.    The second stop for the march lead by HDP Co-Chair Pervin Buldan will be in İstanbul. A peoples' gathering will take place at 19.00 in Esenyurt within the scope of the march. However, Esenyurt square  where the meeting will take place is now blockaded by the police.    The barriers brought to the area was placed around the square early this morning. The whole square and the roads leading to it are now closed.
