Yeneroğlu: If Turkey was ruled by law, the Minister of Interior would be held to account 2020-09-30 13:05:37   HABER MERKEZİ - Regarding the death of Servet Turgut who was thrown out of a helicopter, Mustafa Yeneroğlu from DEVA Party said: "If Turkey was ruled by law, the person or persons who did this would be prosecuted and the Minister of Interior would be held to account."   Mustafa Yeneroğlu, Head of Law and Justice Policies of DEVA Party, tweeted about the death of Servet Turgut, who was thrown out of a helicopter with Osman Şiban.    'CRUELTY'   Yeneroğlu said: "I wish God's mercy on Servet Turgut, who could not endure severe torture. It's really overwhelming. Mr. Servet who was detained on good health, was left to the hsopital with signs of severe torture. When the minister came out and made the innocent farmer a member of the PKK, the issue was over. In this case, torture was also legitimized. It was so hard for me to call his family to offer my condolences. I called his son Hüseyin. I was able to say a few words that probably made no sense to him. An ember burns where it falls. Imagine that your father is taken into custody in good health and later his heavily tortured body is delivered to you. And the Minister of Interior comes out and says he was resisting arrest.    Can one's conscience handle this kind of brutality? How can a son handle this persecution? But who was tortured was somebody else, it can not be our concern. Who knows what he has done, the minister wouldn't lie anyway, would he? And his family will be scared to hold him to account. Or even if they didn't we can cover i t up anyway..That's how they think. Very familiar situations. If we were ruled by law, those who tortured him would be suspended by now, an effective investigation would be carried out and all parties involved were handed the heaviest punishments. And the Minister of Interior would appear before the press, tell the truth, would be held to account. But it didn't happen. Because Uncle Servet from Van is not an equal citizen."
