Inhumane treatment of jailed journalists 2020-10-12 10:23:35 VAN - Journalists arrested for their news in Van faced inhumane treatment in prison. The female journalists, who were put in a filthy ward with male criminal prisoners, were not even given food.   Mesopotamia Agency (MA) reporters Adnan Bilen and Cemil Uğur, who were arrested on the grounds that they were "reporting on social incidents against the state" after two citizens were thrown from a helicopter and one of them lost their lives, were sent to Van High Security Closed Penal Institution, Jinnews reporter Şehriban Abi and Journalist Nazan Sala was put in the Van T Type Prison.   The unlawfulness and the inhumane treatment of the jailed journalists continued in the prison.   THEY WERE PUN IN A WARD WITH MALE CRIMINAL PRISONERS   According to the information obtained from their lawyers, Şehriban Abi and Nazan Sala, were put in a ward in the corridor of the Van T Type Prison where male criminal prisoners were staying.   NO FOOD WAS GIVEN   Telling to their lawyers that the ward was filthy, the female journalists also told that no food was given to them for the first two days. Stating that they were finally given some food when they kept insisting, said that they were also not given any cleaning materials or water.   Şehriban Abi's green sweater was taken from her on grounds that the colour of the sweater is forbidden. Abi said the heat is not on and she only has a t-shirt on.   Lawyers are expected to see Adnan Bilen and Cemil Uğur today.
