Günay: It is no coincidence that ISIS took action with the Kobanê investigation 2020-10-30 15:39:42 ANKARA - Critisizing the 'Kobané investigation' launched against their party 6 years after the protests, HDP Spokesperson Ebru Günay said: "The operations are nothing other than the ISIS mentality rewaken by the AKP- MHP alliance." Regarding the detention of the Free Women's Movement (TJA) Spokesperson Ayşe Gökkan, Günay said, “We would like to express this once again. No oppression, detention, force and persecution has ever discouraged the Kurdish Women's Movement. Every operation you launched against our women's struggle, has increased our determination. The detentions neither terrified Ayşe Gökkan nor intimidated Kurdish women. I am calling for the immediate release of Ayşe Gökkan and I want to state that we condemn these illegal operations against us."   BEFORE AND AFTER KOBANÊ   Continuing her speech on the upcoming November 1, World Kobanê Day, Günay said, "On the occasion of November 1, World Kobanê Day, I salut thousands of brave men and women, revolutionaries, the Kurds, Arabs, Turkmens, Syriacs and Armenians, who gave their lives against ISIS brutality from Kobanê to Minbic, from Serekaniye to Haseke, from Raqqa to Shaddadi. When historians write the history of the Middle East, they will divide it into two as before and after the Kobanê resistance."   Expressing that ISIS faced the greatest resistances of all times, Günay said: "The people of Kobanê and Rojava resisted with faith, determination, morale and strength to protect their land and the values of humanity, they did not surrender to ISIS. Kobanê resistance is the name of the date when ISIS barbarism was defeated. With the epic resistance that lasted for 133 days, Kobanê became a symbol of hope and a symbol of the peoples who are struggling for freedom even though they are oppressed and marginalized. Kobané is the common value of the struggle for democracy and freedom for not only the Middle East but also the world.   ISIS WOULD HAVE THRIVED IF KOBANÊ HAD FALLEN   Günay continued: "If Kobané had fallen like they wanted it, ISIS would reign almost all parts of Syria and Iraq today. We are aware that the mentality of ISIS is not completely defeated.  They continue to attack anyone who wants freedom with its brutal ways that is a threat against humanity. The brutal murders in France shows that ignoring ISIS is a disaster. And at the same time, ISIS does the greatest damage to Muslims poisoning the climate of coexistence of beliefs and peoples."   'THE HOPE WILL GROW'   Stating that the Kurds and the democrats living in Turkey have stood by the people of Kobané during the seige, Günay said: "They raised their voice against the massacre that was about to happen in Kobané. Against this conscientious and moral stance, the AKP government and its sects responded with blind violence, as if they were avenging the defeat of ISIS. We have witnessed the alliance between the government and ISIS back then. While the peoples of the world was standing with the people of Kobané in solidarity, people who took the streets in support were murdered on the streets. The operations launched against our party 6 years later on the grounds of "Kobanê investigations" is nothing other than the ISIS mentality rewaken by the AKP- MHP alliance. It is not a coincidence that ISIS cells in Europe took action simultaneously with the operations launched against our party on the grounds of the Kobané investigations six years after the protests.  On this occasion, we congratulate all the peoples of the world on November 1, World Solidarity Day with Kobanê. This will of resistance will show us the way to create a more free, common and equal world sooner or later, and we will continue on our way as the hope grows."   Mentioning the signal Erdoğan gave about new operations against North and East Syria, Günay said: "Recently Erdoğan gave a signal that he will continue the unfinished work of ISIS. This must be emphasized, every attack on North and East Syria will mean reviving the ISIS barbarism that has plagued the world and has been defeated as a result of a great struggle."
