Borders of Suleymaniyah closed due to protests 2020-12-09 11:29:22 NEWS CENTER - Entries and exits to the city of Sulaymaniyah in the Federated Kurdistan Region were banned on the grounds of the demonstrations. In the Federated Kurdistan Region of Iraq, protests had recently started due to corruption and the fact that the salaries are not being paid. Dozens of people injured during the protests in which 3 people lost their lives so far. It was announced that enteries and exits to Suleymaniyah, Halabja, Germiyan and Raperin which were the epicenters of the protests, have been banned. The decision taken by the Suleymaniyah High Security Council, the ban was put into effect at 00.00 last night and will be effective until December 9, 00.00.   The statement made by the Board is as follows: "In order to create a safe and peaceful environment, a 24-hour entry and exit ban has been taken for Süleymaniyah Halabja, Ranya and Germiyan. The ban will be applied in all regions including cities."
