63 year old sick prisoner diagnosed with Covid-19 2020-12-11 12:39:06 DİYARBAKIR - 63 year old sick prisoner Nimet Değiş from Maraş Türkoğlu Type L Closed Prison contracted Coronavirus. Sultan Değiş told that they were concerned for not getting any information about her husband's health.   Değiş who is behind bars for the last 28 years suffers from pharyngitis, goiter, hernia, kidney and intestinal diseases. Değiş's test turned out positive when he was taken to Maraş State Hospital on December 7.   PRISON OFFICIALS CALLED   Stating that she was called by the prison administration on the night of December 7, Sultan Değiş said she learned that her husband contracted the virus. Explaining that her husband was hospitalized due to goiter disease recently, Değiş told: "They quarantined him for 14 days because he was taken to hospital. He couldn't manage himself alone in quarantine. We learned that Aziz Atlığ was placed in his cell as a compainion. He was hospitalized again during the time he was under quarantined. They tested him for coronavirus when they took him to the hospital. They called me on December 7 and told me he tested positive for Covid-19. I told them he wasn't with us, he was in prison. They called our house because that is his number in the system. We wouldn't have learned if they hadn't call us."   THEY HUNG UP ON ME   Explaining that she called the prison administration the other morning to ask about her husband, Değiş said that the prison administration hung up on her after asking her from whom she got the information.   Stating that she has been calling the prison to learn about how her husband is doing twice a day, Değiş said: "They say he is fine but we don't trust them. We are concerned. He is old and sick. We don't get how he is 'fine' with his age and all his illnesses."   Adressing the prison authorities, Değiş said: "He only has one and a half years left in prison. Release him. Release all sick prisoners."
