Prosecutor asks 15 years jail sentence for DBP co-chair Aydeniz 2020-12-11 16:51:21 DİYARBAKIR - Prosecutor has asked 15 years jail sentence for DBP co-chair Saliha Aydeniz. The 8th hearing of the case against Democratic Regions Party (DBP) co-chair Saliha Aydeniz for allegedly "being a member of an illegal organization" on the grounds of the activities she carried out in the Democratic Society Congress (DTK) was held at the 10th High Criminal Court of Diyarbakır.   Aydeniz’s lawyer Cemile Turhallı Balsak attended the hearing, while Aydeniz didn’t.   The statement of an anonymous witness called "Sabır", taken by the 2nd High Criminal Court in Antep, was incorporated in the file. Lawyer Balsak demanded that her client, who is a MP, had her trial suspended within the scope of Article 83 of the Constitution regulating immunity. The lawyer also pointed out to the previous decision regarding CHP Deputy Enis Berberoğlu.   TRIAL POSTPONED TO MARCH 2021   The prosecutor asked for a prison sentence of 7 and a half to 15 years for Saliha Aydeniz.   In its interim decision, the court rejected the request for the suspension of the trial, citing that Aydeniz had committed the "crime" for which the sentence is requested before being elected a deputy.   The court board postponed the hearing to 26 March 2021.
