Our reporter Karataş faces year long wait behind bars for court hearing 2020-12-24 12:49:22 ERZURUM - The indictment against our reporter Dindar Karataş who being held in Erzurum Type H Closed Prison was prepared. The prosecutor seeks up to 15 years of prison sentence for Karataş who is accused of the news he wrote regarding torture and isolation.    The indictment against Mesopotamia Agency (MA) reporter Dindar Karataş who was detained in Van on October 24 and arrested in Erzurum on October 26 was prepared. According to the 17 page long indictment accepted by the Erzurum High Criminal Court, Karataş is accused of affiliation with the 'KCK Press Committee'. There are tapes of phonecalls Karataş made with his sources and articles he had written in different dates in the indictment.   The prosecutor seeks a prison sentence of 7.5 years up to 15 years for Journalist Karataş who is referred as a 'member of a terrorist organization' in the conclusion of the indictment. The first hearing of the case against Karataş will be on February 9, 2021. Karataş is expected to be behind bars for a year pending trial.     MA / Müjdat Can
