Appeal for release of Figen Yüksekdağ 2020-12-26 09:41:25 NEWS CENTER - The attorneys of HDP former Co-Chair Figen Yüksekdağ applied to the Ankara 16th High Criminal Court for her release, citing the ECtHR decision on Selahattin Demirtaş as a precedent.   The attorneys of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) former Co-Chair Figen Yüksekdağ applied for her release, citing the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) decision on Selahattin Demirtaş as a precedent.   Lawyers submitted a petition to the Ankara 16th High Criminal Court within the scope of the main case, for which an arrest warrant was issued, and to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office within the scope of the second arrest warrant issued on the grounds of the October 6-8 Kobanê incidents.   'SHE MUST BE RELEASED IMMEDIATELTY'   Attorneys demanding the release of their client Figen Yüksekdağ, said in the appeal, "Remindind that Turkey is a party and an implementor of European Convention on Human Rights, have recognized ECtHR's compulsory jurisdiction and accepts attribute its supremacy over domestic law, we demand that Figen Yüksektaş must be released in accordance witht he ECtHR Grand Chamber decision."
