Women detained for participating in March 8 rally accused of 'jumping' 2021-03-11 12:58:30 İSTANBUL - 12 women who were detained for participating in the Feminist Night March were taken to the courthouse. The slogans 'Tayyip, run away, the women are on the way' and 'Jump, jump, those who do not jump are Tayyip' were subject to accusations.   12 women from Free Women's Movement (TJA), İstanbul Women's Committee, Women's Liberation and Socialist Refoundation Party were detained with raids on their homes for participating in the 19th Feminist Night March held in Istanbul as part of International Women's Day, accused of 'insulting the president'.   JUMPING UP AND DOWN IS A CRIME   The women were accused of shouting the above mentioned slogans at the İstanbul Security Directorate in Vatan Street. It turned out that it was not determined if the women were shouting these slogans because of their face masks and they were detained because they jumped up and down to the rhythm of the slogan. After being processed at the police station, the women were referred to İstanbul Court house located in Çağlayan.   WOMEN FLOCKED TO THE COURTHOUSE   Expressing their anger at the detentions using the hashtag #MartaDokunma since word got out that the women were detained, women started to flock to the Çağlayan Courthouse.   The names of the detained women are as follows: TJA activist Besra İşsever, HDP Central Executive Board member İlknur Birol, Women's Committee members Devrim Çapar, Merve Bektaş, Zeynep Çakır, Ebru Sert, Women's Liberation member Sedef Özer, İlayda Cantaş, SYKP members Pelin Şahin, Nimet Tanrıkulu.
