Turkish soldiers raids houses of HDP politicians in Mardin and Diyarbakır 2021-05-18 10:23:35   NEWS CENTER - 4 people including 3 politicians with the HDP were taken into custody during raids on their homes in Diyarbakır and Mardin.   Turkish soldiers raided a number of homes in the Mardin city center and Savur district. Former Savur Co-mayor Mehmet Aydın Alökmen, former HDP Provincial Executive Bedii Yılmaz and HDP Provincial Executive Ayşe Bozan were detained. The reason for the detention of the 3 politicians could not be learned. It was stated that more houses might be raided and more people might be detained.   Alökmen, who was taken into custody, was arrested on March 1, 2016 when he was the Co-mayor of Savur Municipality. Alökmen, who was released after being detained for more than a year, was sentenced to 10 years, 3 months and 22 days in prison on the grounds of the statements of "anonymous witnesses".   1 PERSON DETAINED IN DIYARBAKIR   Police raided the house of Karakuzu family in the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır. Hacı Karakuzu was detained during the raid. The family members told that he was forced to lay on the ground and their house was searched for an hour. Underlining that their house is frequently raided, the family members told that Karakuzu was released from prison only two months ago and has been on probation going to the police station 3 times a week.    It was stated that Karakuzu was taken to Diyarbakır Provincial Security Directorate. The reason for his detention remains unknown.
