HDP İzmir Co-chair Baydur: Police did not respond and stopped me from helping 2021-06-18 09:23:18 İZMİR –  HDP İzmir Co-Chair Abdulkadir Baydur stated that the three plainclothes police on duty in front of the building did not intervene in the incident and said, "I asked the police why they didn't do anything. They said, "We are waiting for the steel vests."   Early in the morning yesterday, Onur Gencer, who was trained in Syria stormed the provincial building of HDP in İzmir and killed Deniz Poyraz (38). The photos of the crime scene reflected to the party after the police who blockaded the building through the day left.    HDP İzmir Provincial Co-Chair Abdulkadir Baydur, who was the first to go to the scene when the party building was attacked, spoke to the Mesopotamia Agency (MA).   THEY WAITED FOR THE STEEL VESTS!   Baydur told that the police on duty in front of the provincial organization building did not respond to the indicent and moreover, he wasn't able to respond because the same police stopped him. Baydur said: "I asked the police why they didn't do anything. They said, "We are waiting for the steel vests."    'DENİZ WAS ALONE IN THE BUILDING'   Stating that he was close to the party building at the time of the indicent, Baydur said: "No one was at the party building in the morning. Deniz was alone. Normally me and four or five people are at the building at that time but yesterday a few of our friends went to the airport to pick up our Central Executive Board members and MPs.   PLAIN CLOTH POLICE WERE AT THE DOOR   I was trying to park my car on the street. I saw three police officers waiting at the party building door when I arrived. I asked them what was wrong andthey told me someone was storming the HDP office. They knew our office was bening attacked. I asked them why they did not respond, they told me they were waiating for steel vests.   'WE HEARD GUN SHOTS WHILE I WAS ARGUING WITH THE POLICE'   Baydur told that he argued with the police at least for 15 minutes and no one responded to the hostage situation during that time and said: "We heard gun shots while I was arguing with the police. Police responded a little bit later and captured the assailant. We learned that Deniz was killed.."   'SHOPKEEPERS SAID THEY SAW A MAN AROUND 35 ENTERED THE BUILDING WITH A GUN IN HIS HAND'     Baydur also said that a shopkeeper witnessed the incident and told that someone around the age 35 entered the building with a gun in his hand.   'HE SHOOTED AT EVERY ROOM IN THE OFFICE'   Stating that they entered the office with the prosecutor, Baydur said: "I saw that my room, the provincial co-chair room was shot at. He broke the glass and shooted at every room in the office."   'I WENT TO THE POLICE THREE TIMES BEFORE'   Stating that their party building was targeted for provocation due to the families brought by the goverment demanding their children from the PKK, Baydur said: "I went to the police three times since these families set up a tent in front of our party building. I requested an appointment from the governor's office but they didn't see me. I told them we had no life safety. I told this again today looking in their eyes."
