Call for national responsibility from KNK: Kurds face great dangers 2021-09-02 11:52:36   NEWS CENTER - Stating that Turkey has prepared a new concept for the Federated Kurdistan Region, KNK Co-Chair Ahmet Karamus said that the Kurds should act with national responsibility against these great dangers.   The operation launched by Turkey in the Federated Kurdistan Region on April 23 continues. In addition to the operations of the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) against Zap, Metîna and Avaşîn regions, many air strikes against Maxmur and Shengal with warplanes and drones continue. Many people were killed and many injured in the air strikes against Shengal. Very recently, Turkey bombed the Qadiya Camp, which is located in the city of Zaho, which is under the control of the Federal Kurdistan Regional government, populated by the Yazidis. Evaluating Turkey's attacks, KDP's attitude and developments in the region, Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) Co-Chair Ahmet Karamus said that the attacks pose great dangers for the region.   NEW CONCEPT   Expressing that there are very important developments in the region, Karamus said, "Actor states want to make some changes in the region in line with their own interests. It is not known how the developments in Afghanistan will change the political atmosphere in the region. But as we see, the situation and political crisis here will not be much different from Afghanistan. The attitude of other states in the face of these Turkish attacks is very well known. When we look at issues such as the contradictions within the PUK and the Iraqi elections, there is a deep crisis in the region. A new concept has been prepared by Turkey and the KDP. According to what we heard in the region, the KDP is also included in this concept. Air strikes and ground attacks of Turkey against the region continue with different methods.   ALL-OUT WAR   Karamus said: "Turkey has started an all-out war in the region. There will be results and this will cause great harm to the Kurdish people. There is no gain for the Kurdish people in such a war. We see that different states also participate in this new concept of Turkey. Iran and the Baath Regime are also included in this concept. The aim of these forces is the gains of the Kurdish people. They want to liquidate all gains of the Kurds. As the KNK, we do not see any interest for the Kurdish people in this concept. We need to expose this concept."   CONTRADICTIONS IN THE PUK   Referring to the contradictions between Lahur Şêx Cengî and Bafil Talabani within the PUK, Karamus continued his words as follows: "There are forces that support Turkey's invasion attacks. If a Kurdish party supports the invasion attacks, the Kurdish people will not accept it. We can't see the contradictions and problems within the PUK apart from Turkey's and KDP's war concept. As the KNK, we do not want such a problem to continue within the PUK. The PUK is a Kurdish party with an important role and mission in regional politics. The people of the region need the PUK. It needs to resolve the contradictions through dialogue. The continuation of the problems harms the interests and gains of the Kurdish people. These contradictions are not independent of Turkey. The PUK has so far expressed its reaction against all the attacks of the Turkish state. Because of this, Turkey creates an internal conflict within the PUK and this weakens PUK while it strengthens the enemy, so we need to be careful."    ATTACKS AGAINST SHENGAl   Regarding the attacks on Shengal, Karamus said, "The last attack of the Turkish Armed Forces was carried out on the day of Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Kazimi's visit to the region. The YBŞ commander was targeted in the attack. The silence of the Iraqi Government against these attacks shows us that this attack is the result of the 9 October Agreement. Iraq and the Federated Kurdistan Regional Government are accomplices in this attack. Their attitude against these attacks should be clear. If the coalition forces had not approved these attacks, Turkey would not have had the courage to attack. This is how they want to implement the October 9 Agreement. We do not accept this in any way. The people of Shengal also need to take the initiative and raise their voice against the attacks. But it seems that what has been done on Shengal is also part of the concept we are talking about. A concept involving 4 states was prepared. Bombing a hospital is a war crime. International powers must hold them accountable for this. If this crime had been committed in another part of the world, the world would not have been so unresponsive to it. This silence is hypocrisy. The Turkish state is violating international laws and everyone remains silent. This is a sin against humanity."   DEMOGRAPHIC STRUCTURE   Explaining Turkey's latest attacks indicate that it doesn't recognize the language, identity and the existance of the Kurdish people, Karamus said: "It doesn't mean much to them where the Kurds leave or under which circumstances. They attack them anyway. Turkey started an all-out war against the Kurds. They want to change the demographic structure of the region called Kurdistan. They want to place Arabs and radical muslims to these places."   GREAT DANGER   Noting that it was seen that the Iraqi central government supported the attacks, Karamus said, "There has been a serious traffic in Iraq lately. Turkey accelerated its negotiations in Iraq at once. Officials from Turkey are holding talks with Iraqi Interior and Foreign Ministers on the one hand, and Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Kazimi on the other. Mustafa Kazimi is pioneering this concept. There is information that Iran is also involved in the concept. Their aim is to redesign the area. We are facing a great danger because of this. The Kurdish people and their gains face great danger. We all need to take this process seriously."   PLATFORM AGAINST OCCUPATION   Karamus continued as follows: "We have a historical and national responsibility. We need a common idea to protect our own gains. We are making a serious effort for this to happen. We are holding talks with opinion leaders and paving the way for this dialogue. We will establish a platform against the occupation in the coming days. We hope that writers, politicians, academics, intellectuals, artists and journalists from four parts of Kurdistan will participate. If we unite and stand against these threats together, we can repel them. Today is the day of resistance. We must resist. We are calling out to the forces of the people of Kurdistan, to stand with the struggle of the people of Kurdistan."     MA / Zeynep Durgut
