Release of prisoner delayed for choosing 'partisan ward'

	MERSİN - Mazlum Dursun being held in Van Type F Prison is not released despite the fact that he served his time because he chose to stay in a 'partisan ward'. 

	 

	With the Regulation on Observation and Classification Centers and the Evaluation of Convicts entering into force on January 1, the release of prisoners who served their time is being delayed with a variety of wierd reasons. With the reports of the prison administrations, many prisoners were held in prison even though they served their time. Mazlum Dursun who was sentenced to 8 years 9 months, is not released from prison even though he served his time because he chose to stay in a 'pastisan ward', which applies to almost all political prisoners.

	 

	His father Mehmet Dursun criticized the decision not knowing if his son will be released anytime soon.

	 

	Father Dursun told that the prison administration prefers the political prisoners to chose the 'independent' ward, which is usually the ward 'confessors' chose to stay. Dursun said: "They are doing this to intimidate the political prisoners."
