HDP: They are trying to complete the genocide ISIS could not complete 2021-12-08 12:31:54   NEWS CENTER - Condemning Turkey's attack on Shengal, HDP stated that they wanted to complete the genocide that ISIS could not complete.   Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Foreign Relations Commission Co-spokespersons Feleknas Uca and Hişyar Özsoy made a written statement regarding the death of Shengal Executive Council Co-chair Merwan Bedel as a result of the Turkish attack.   The statement reads, "Merwan Bedel, who fought hard to defend the people of Shengal against the genocidal attack of ISIS against the Yazidi Kurds, was killed in Xanesor district of Shengal on December 7, 2021, as a result of a drone attack while driving a civilian vehicle, and his two children in the vehicle were injured. This attack is a war crime and we condemn the attack. Such attacks against the Yazidis, which literally means the continuation of the genocide that ISIS could not complete, is a violation of international law, it is inhuman and immoral. A hospital in Shengal was targeted with an airstrike before and eight people lost their lives."   'THEY BOMBED THE CIVILLIANS'   The statement continues as follows: "The Yazidi Kurds in Shengal have not posed any threat to anyone, including Turkey, and have been subjected to 74 attempts at genocide in their history. The last genocidal attack was carried out by ISIS. There are obviously those who are eager to complete the job left incomplete by ISIS. We are asking: What does the Turkish government want from the Yazidi people in Shengal? How can you explain the bombing and massacre of civilians with their young children?   CALL FOR SOLIDARITY   The international community, including the international coalition established to fight ISIS, should investigate this attack together with previous similar attacks and with all its dimensions, expose the perpetrators and take responsibility to prevent similar attacks. Again, we call on the Iraqi Government to take the necessary measures so that such attacks do not happen again, and invite everyone to be in solidarity with the Yazidi people in Shengal, who are fighting an honorable life and death struggle."
