PADÊ Co-Chair: The will of Shengal must belong to the people 2022-01-19 15:44:09   NEWS CENTER - Speaking about troops being deployed to Shengal by the Iraqi army, PADÊ Co-Chair Emer Salih told that they want dialogue and solution.   The Iraqi army has recently deployed a large force in Shengal under the name of security. It was stated that the Iraqi army came to the region in line with the agreement signed between Baghdad and Hewler on October 9, 2021. Western Ninova Operations Commander Liwa Rukun Cebar threatened Ezidxan Public Order (Asayish) in Sinun to withdraw from the region.Public order forces did not withdraw from the region and tension continue to escalate in the region. There were reactions from many fractions to the increasing military activity in the region. Ezidi Freedom and Democracy Party (PADÊ-Partiya Azadi û Democracy ya Êzidi) Co-chair Emer Salih evaluated the recent developments in the region to RojNews.   'WE WANT SOLUTION'   Emer Salih stated that since the establishment of PADÊ, they did not want to be att odds with Iraq and that they tried to find the solution of social problems, and said that the October 9 agreement was made despite all the solution attempts. Emer Salih said, “We do not want a disturbance in Shengal. But unfortunately, the attacks on Shengal continue. The biggest mistake of today is the October 9 agreement. We want to develop solutions based on self-management. The Iraqi government is not taking any steps in this direction. We held many meetings with Iraq and we never said, 'We do not recognize your administration'. Of course, the administration needs to develop on the basis of the self-government of the society. This is the demand of our people."   REACTION TO KDP PARLIAMENTARY   Emer Salih, referring to the statements made by KDP parliamentarian Majid Şengali and said: “What does it mean if Iraqi parliamentarian Majid Şengali says that they do not accept the statue of Martyr Zerdeşt Şengali? This means that this person is not in favor of a common life in Shengal. A parliamentarian cannot distinguish between sects. This attitude reminds me of ISIS. As the Yazidi community, we do not want or accept such personalities on Iraqi soil. We appeal to the Iraqi government, an investigation should be launched against these people. What Majid Şengali says when he says  "We do not accept the statue of Martyr Zerdeşt Şengali,"  he essentially says, "We do not accept the Yazidi people."   Emer Salih drew attention to the statements of the Autonomous Administration and stated that they are in favor of solving the problems through dialogue. Emer Salih continued: “We want an administration in Shengal. We are not against it. We do not want conflict and war in Shengal. Some actors want to create chaos in Shengal. As PADÊ, we do not want this. We want to prevent a conflict in Shengal. Our communication with Iraq will continue and we will develop it further. Shengal have been through massacres. The Êzidî people should be respected and the administration of Shengal should be in the hands of the people of Shengal.”
