'The UN and Iraq should abandon the alliance with Turkey and fulfill their duties' 2022-02-03 13:41:07   NEWS CENTER - Stating that both Iraq and the UN are in alliance with Turkey's attacks, Makhmur Camp Municipality director Ali Ürek, called on the UN to fulfill its responsibilities instead of collaborating with Turkey.   Reactions against the air attack carried out by Turkey on Shengal, Makhmur and the cities of Dêrik and Shehba in Northern and Eastern Syria that started on February 1, continue to grow. 2 civilians in Makhmur, 3 civilians in Shengal and 4 people in Derik lost their lives during the simultaneous air strikes.   Makhmur Camp Municipality manager Ali Ürek told what happened in the Makhmur Camp, one of the places hit by Turkey's airstrikes.   'TURKEY DOES NOT WANT FREE KURDS'   Ürek stated that the attack on their camp was very comprehensive. Stating that they are no strangers to the air attacks on the Makhmur Camp, Ürek said, "This attack is neither the first nor will it be the last attack of Turkey. We know this very well that Turkey will not give up attacking Kurds. Because Turkey wants the free Kurd to disappear completely. Turkey wants to end the Kurds who stand up for their own values."   'THE PLACES TURKEY BOMBED WAS PICKED ON PURPOSE'   Emphasizing that Turkey has changed its strategy after 2020 and aims to destroy all the gains of the Kurds, Ürek said that when Turkey's attacks on Zap, Metina, Avaşin, Werxelê, Mam Reşo and Zendura regions did not yield any results, they targeted the Makhmur Camp, Shengal and Northern and Eastern Syria territories. Stating that Turkey tried to hide its failure with these attacks, Ürek said, “Turkey has put into action a comprehensive plan in Hesekê to revive ISIS. With this plan, it wanted to both invade Hesekê and reach Shengal. But those who defended that place responded by fighting at the cost of their lives. All three regions where Turkey has carried out airstrikes are places where ISIS suffered a great defeat. That's why Turkey's attacks are not coincidential, but deliberately chosen."   Adding to his words that the more the dose of the attacks increases, the larger the resistance will become, Ürek noted that they have been fighting with the spirit of resistance and freedom for 28 years, and that they have strengthen their self-defense system and organisation day by day.   ‘UN AND IRAQ ARE ACCOMPLICES OF THESE ATTACKS’   Explaining that the United Nations (UN) and Iraq were also responsible for the air strikes carried out by Turkey, Ürek said, "Because we are on the territory of Iraq and we are under the protection of the UN. The silence of Iraq and UN shows that they are accomplices. The Bashur Kurdistan administration is already helping Turkey de facto. On the one hand, air attacks are taking place against our camp, an embargo is imposed by the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP). We may experience difficulties in these two-way attacks, but we will never accept a dishonorable life. We said it yesterday, we say it today, and we will continue to say it tomorrow. Makhmur is the stronghold of the resistance. We will resist all attacks and continue our struggle.”   UN AND IRAQ SHOULD STOP ALLYING WITH TURKEY     Addressing Iraq and the UN, Ürek emphasized that both Iraq and the UN should abandon their alliance with Turkey and fulfill their responsibilities.     MA / Omer Akin
