People reminds Minister of Justice his duty: Öcalan must be free 2022-02-10 12:33:10   HAKKARİ - Stating that PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan must be free, Peace Mothers said: "As the isolation deepens, the Kurdish question is drifting away from a solution."   Since March 25, 2021, no one was able to communicate with the PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has been in heavy isolation in Imrali F-Type High Security Prison for 23 years. While social concerns have increased due to the fact that Öcalan has not been heard from for 10 months, the Hakkari Peace Mothers stated that the isolation on Öcalan should be lifted immediately and called on the Minister of Justice to "Fulfill his responsibility".   FREEDOM FOR ÖCALAN   Demanding the isolation on Öcalan to be lifted immediately, Peace Mother Belgin Polat underlined that the Minister of Justice is not fulfilling his reponsibilities and added, "We demand freedom for Mr. Öcalan and all other ill prisoners. As the Peace Mothers we say this isolation is unacceptable. No one has heard from Mr. Öcalan in 10 months. The government must immediately remove the obstruction in front of his family visits. Why is the Minister of Justice holding that office if he can not fulfill his responsibilities? The government must solve this problem immediately. The responsibilitiy lies with the Minister of Justice should anything bad happens to Mr. Öcalan or the ill prisoners."   THE ADDRESS OF THE DEMOCRATIC SOLUTION   Underlining that Öcalan has been resisting isolation for 23 years straight, Peace Mother Emine Atak said: "We want the isolation on Öcalan to be lifted. He represents the will of 40 thousand Kurds. End this oppression. Enough is enough.They are trying to intimidate the Kurds through Öcalan. But they won't be able to make it. The Kurds continue to resist. Above all, we want this war to be resolved with a genuine and permanent peace. The democratic solution to Kurdish question is only be achieved if Öcalan is addressed as the interlocutor."   'END THE LAWLESSNESS'   Peace Mother Nazdar Çelik underlined that Öcalan must be allowed to be visited by his lawyers and said: "We want this lawlessness to end. Hundreds of people, relatives of prisoners have demands and have been staging a sit-in. Our primary demand is the freedom of Öcalan. He must be allowed to be visited by his family and lawyers. The violations of rights in prison must end."
