Woman sued for membership of PKK over posting picture of Zapatista woman 2022-02-28 12:32:51 MARDİN - An indictment was prepared against Zilan Ö. with a request of a prison sentence from 2 years to 5 years for sharing a picture of a Zapatista woman and an armed Yazidi woman with a baby in her arms.    The Mardin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation against Zilan Ö., completed the indictment against her. In the indictment accepted by the Mardin 2nd High Criminal Court, the Prosecutor's Office asked for a prison sentence of 2 to 5 years. The evelatuations of the Prosecutor's Office regarding the two social media posts of Zilan Ö, which demanded that the penalty be increased by half because the crime was committed through the media, attracted attention.   THE SOCIAL MEDIA POST ZİLAN WAS ACCUSED OF   The first social media post Zilan was accused of was shared on July 9, 2021.  The female figure, prepared by the US designer Sam Phillips, representing the women revolutionaries of the Zapatista National Liberation Army (EZLN), one of the organizations operating in Mexico, was made the subject of accusation.   Regarding the female figure, the Prosecutor's Office said, "It is seen that the suspect posted a photo of a female figure with a long-barreled gun on her shoulder and a Molotov cocktail in her hand, who is considered to be a member of the PKK/KCK armed terrorist organization and attempted to legalize violent acts and activities”.   THE YAZIDI WOMEN CONSIDERED TO BE A PKK MEMBER   The second social media post of Zilan Ö. was shared on September 6, 2020 was of a Yazidi woman who had a gun in one hand and her baby in another. The prosecutor office claimed that the woman in the picture is a PKK member and Zilan Ö was attempting to legalize  violent acts and activities of the PKK.     MA / Ahmet Kanbal
