ATK report expected for seriously ill prisoner Nebioğlu 2022-03-28 14:28:14   BATMAN - While an ATK report is expected for  Fırat Nebioğlu, a seriously ill prisoner in Batman Type T Prison, family members demanded that the treatment of Nebioğlu, whose kidneys are failing, be done outside.   Fırat Nebioğlu (24), who was arrested in Batman in October 2015, was sentenced to 11 years and 7 months in prison on political grounds in the case brought against him on the grounds that he participated in a social protest in the city. During his detention, Nebioğlu was transferred to Batman, Gümüşhane and Elazığ prisons. Nebioğlu was most recently sent to Batman Type T High Security Closed Prison. Nebioğlu, who has been held here for about a year and a half, has serious health problems. His kidneys are failing, and he has difficulty seeing and hearing. Referred to the Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK), the institution gave Nebioğlu a report that says he could "remain in prison" on November 16, 2021.   ATK'S NEW REPORT IS EXPECTED   After ATK's decision, Nebioğlu's health condition was got worse. Nebioğlu, who was taken to Batman Training and Research Hospital on March 7, was given a report that says "can't remain in prison" because both of his kidneys are failing. After the report was sent to the prison, Nebioğlu was transferred to Istanbul ATK on  March 14. Nebioğlu was sent back to the same prison on March 24 after his procedures there.   While waiting for the ATK report, Nebioğlu's uncle Emin Şahin pointed out that if Nebioğlu's kidneys fail as a result of negligence, he will remain on dialysis and will not live long.   KIDNEYS ARE ON THE VERGE OF FAILING   Şahin stated that they applied to many places for his nephew to be treated outside, but he received a negative response. Şahin said, “Before entering the prison, he had a slight difficulty in seeing and hearing. His vision and hearing problems got worse after he was imprisoned. He caught the coronavirus 6 months ago. It's been very difficult. He's back from the dead. If he gets the coronavirus again, he may not be able to get over it. Kidney failure is a serious disease. It would be better for him to be treated outside. We insisted that he is treated outside before, but now his kidneys are on the verge of failing. We try that he can be treated outside and had a kidney transplant. However, under those conditions, he can't be treated, he will die in prison."   Reminding that many prisoners have died in prisons in recent days, Şahin said, “My nephew is 24 years old. Within a week, 4 people died in prisons. Two of them were young people. We don't want my nephew's to die in prison. Here we are calling out to the public. Please stop this cruelty. There should be no more funerals in prison."
