PUK accuses KDP for fleeing Shengal: You fled, you left the people to the hands of ISIS gangs 2022-05-04 15:47:36   NEWS CENTER - Responding harshly to the KDP's statement that "Only the KDP defended Shengal and paid a great price for this", the PUK said, "You fled before everyone else and left the civilian population to the hands of ISIS gangs."   During the ISIS attack on Shengal in 2014, the Yazidis was once again subjected to a massacre for the 74th time,when the peshmerga who were suppose to ensure the security of the region, fleed when they faced with ISIS. The following written statement was made by the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) which caused reactions;"Only KDP defended Shengal and paid a great price for this cause. In the liberation of Shengal Mountain in 2014, in the opening of Shengal roads, in the 2015 operation to liberate Shengal, only the KDP Peshmerga fought and saved Shengal from the terrorists and avenged the people of Shengal. The KDP will no longer stand by as the people of Shengal live under threat."   ‘KDP HANDED OVER SENGAL TO ISIS’   The PUK Politburo, which issued the written statement, said, "When ISIS gangs attacked Shengal, it was the KDP who handed over the people of Shengal to ISIS and fled. In your statement, you said that the people of Shengal know best who fought and defended Shengal during the ISIS gangs attacking Shengal. This is true. You and your Shengal Office represantative said you were going to defend Shengal with 12 thousand Peshmerga. But you fleed the scene without even firing a single bullet. Your office manager said that they would not leave Shengal at any cost. But you fled before everyone else. You fled and left the civilian population at the hands of ISIS gangs. The people of Shengal are witnesses that you have left Shengal. You handed Shengal over to ISIS gangs.     You also mentioned the process of the liberation of  Shengal. The truth is that the PUK had many weapons and ammunition transferred to Shengal via Rojava. So far, the PUK has not stopped supporting and helping Shengal. We supported the process of liberating Shengal, shoulder to shoulder with the people of Shengal. Our peshmerga members of the 111 Peshmerga Command fell martyrs in this process."   PEOPLE  AT THE CAMP WERE THREATENED   In addition, the PUK stated that the KDP put pressure on the Yazidis from Shengal during the early general elections in Iraq, and emphasized that the KDP threatened to remove the Yazidis from their camps if they did not vote for them.   In the PUK statement, it was pointed out that the way for Shengal residents to return to their homeland should be paved.
