Hunger strike in Afyon Prison enters day 22: Meet the demands! 2022-06-14 11:15:12   DİYARBAKIR - While the hunger strike in Afyon Type T No 1 Closed Prison enters day 22, it was stated that other prisoners will join if the demands are not met.   Prisoners in Afyon No. 1 T Type Closed Prison have entered the 22nd day of the  hunger strike, which they started on May 25, against the arbitrary practices of the prison administration, as well as other violations of rights. While it is learned that two more detainees, whose names were not learned joined the hunger strile on June 9, the families of the prisoners on hunger strike are not informed about the situation of their relatives.   Resul Birkan, brother of Yusuf Birkan who is on hunger strike against the violations of rights told that the prisoners are forced to stand up during counts, their letters, books and newspapers are not given and the guards are arbitrarily confiscating their belongings. Birkan said: "Their applications to be transferred to another prison are denied. They started a hunger strike against these violations. But the prison administration put the hunger strikers alone in cells."   PRISON ADMINISTRATION DOES NOT INFORM THE FAMILIES   Stating that the prison administration does not inform the families of the hunger strikers about their healt status, Birkan told that the prison officials claim that they don't have to inform them and when the families told them they will file a complaint against them, the prison officials told them to say hi for them."   MORE PRISONER MIGHT JOIN   Zeynep Onğullu, sister of 45-year-old ill prisoner Abdullah Onğullu said that her brothers suffers from many diseases. Onğullu said: "My brother told me that if the demands of the hunger strikers are not met, more prisoners will join the hungers strike until every prisoner in Afyon Prison is on hunger strike."   The names of the prisoners on hunger strike except for those whose names could not be learned are as follows: "Rızgar Turhan, Cumali Yıldırım, Mehmet Emin Dal, İsmail Çevik, Cihat Oğraş, Fırat Beyazer, Velat Kazanççı ve Yusuf Birkan.   MA / Cengiz Özbasar
