Balaç on death fast dropped to 39 kilos 2022-09-14 09:46:54   ANKARA - Sibel Balaç, who continues her death fast with the demand for a "fair trial", has dropped to 39 kilograms.   Sibel Balaç, who started her death fast on December 29, 2021 in Sincan Women's Closed Prison demanding a "fair trial", was transferred to Ankara Dışkapı Yıldırım Beyazıt Training and Research Hospital on September 7 after her attorney Ceren Yılmaz's application for a postponement of sentence on September 6. Balaç, who was sent to the hospital for the examinations, has lost 2 kilos since the day she was taken to the hospital and dropped to 39 kilos.   The People's Law Office made a written statement regarding their client Balaç, who has been on death fast for 269 days.   'SHE IS HELD IN UNHYGIENIC CONDITION'   In the statement, it was stated that Balaç is held in unhygienic conditions and the lawyer said: "Our client is currently being held in an unventilated, smelly, dirty cell in a prisoner ward located in the Dışkapı Yıldırım Beyazıt Hospital."   'SHE CANNOT BE HELD IN PRISON'   In the statement, it was emphasized that Balaç's health condition was getting worse and it was requested that she should be referred to the Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK) quickly and her sentence should be suspended. The statement also included the following statements: "We learned that our client, Sibel Balaç, had lost 2 more kilograms from the day she was taken to the hospital and had dropped to 39 kilograms. Our client has been undergoing various tests since September 6. Due to these tests, our client got very tired and her weight loss accelerated. Our client has numbness on her feet and legs and sores in her mouth. According to the latest information we have received, the examinations will end on Wednesday. It is clear that our client cannot be held in prison with her rapidly deteriorating health condition. The Diskapi Hospital Health Board should announce its report as soon as possible, the referral of our client to the Forensic Medicine Institute should be carried out quickly, and the prosecutor's office should decide to suspend the sentence of our client.”
