Worker subjected to racist attack: The attack was planned, press didn't speak to us 2022-09-15 11:02:59   BATMAN - Hamit Oran, who was injured in the attack on Kurdish workers in Kastamonu, said that the incident was a planned, racist attack and that other journalists did not speak to them and distorted the reality about the attack.   In the Cide district of Kastamonu, Kurdish workers from Batman, Abdurrahman Birgün (47) and Hamit Oran (33) who were painting a building, were attacked with guns by the son of the landlord, Serhat Ok (33). Abdurrahman Birgün, one of the workers who was seriously injured as a result of the attack, lost his life.   Hamit Oran, who was injured in the attack, told the Mesopotamia Agency (MA) what happened. Saying that false allegations were made regarding the reasons for the attack, Oran stated that they were attacked because they spoke Kurdish.   THREE WORKERS ATTACKED WITH WEAPONS   Expressing that they had been working in the construction business in Cide for a while, Oran said the following about the attack: "We were changing our clothes to put on our work clothes in the basement. At that moment, the attacker was standing at the door and he had a shotgun in his hand. He fired randomly before I could realize what was going on. Abdurrahman was shot in the back of his neck. He lost his life. I was injured by the bullet that hit my stomach and head. He also attacked our friend, who was going to get supplies with a gun in the garden. He managed to save himself."   Oran said, “We had no issues with this person in any way. After all, we are workers who work and go there to earn our livelihood. There was no argument between us."   REFUTED THE CLAIMS   Pointing out that the information that would legitimise the incident  was serviced by the pro-government media, Oran reacted to the news spread with the headline "A person in Kastamonu shot the workers who were painting his house with a shotgun because they touched the laundry of his wife which fell in the garden". Sharing the information that the attacker lived with his parents and that he was not married, Oran noted that they would file a criminal complaint against those spreaded false news. Oran said that other journalists did not even bother to ask him what happened.   Stating that the attack was planned, Oran said: "This person filled his pockets with bullets before he came. He had a gun on him. He was aiming to kill all of us. It was a planned racist attack. The only reason was that we were speaking in Kurdish. We gave him cigarettes few hours before the incident. We didn't have an issue as we were aware of. I speak to them in Turkish but we speak Kurdish with each other."   'HE LOST HIS LIFE AS A RESULT OF LATE INTERVENTION'   Stating that Abdurrahman Birgün lost his life as a result of late medical intervention, Oran said: "I called the ambulance. I was injured at the time. They asked us where we were from, our names, last names.. We were losing blood. The hospital was 20 minutes away from where we were. They came in an hour and waited for the gendermerie. Our friend lost his life because of the late medical intervention and irresponsibility of the medical workers."   MA / Fethi Balaman
