At least 138 detentions during October 9 protests 2022-10-10 10:34:28   NEWS CENTER - At least 138 people were detained in the October 9 international conspiracy protests, attended by thousands of people.   Protests took place in many cities on the occasion of the 24th anniversary of the international conspiracy against PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who is held under heavy isolation conditions in İmralı Type F High Security Prison, on October 9, 1998. Despite the police attacks, marches were held in many cities including Diyarbakır, Van, Istanbul, Cizre, Doğubayazıt and Kızıltepe. Many people were beaten and detained in the police attack on the marches and statements.   URFA   Ömer Kıstak, Hatice Göktepe and İbrahim Damdan were beaten and detained during the march against the October 9 conspiracy in Urfa. In addition, Serhat Uka was detained after the march.   IZMIR   HDP Provincial Co-chairs Berna Çelik and Çınar Altan and an unknown person were detained during the protest in İzmir.   VAN   55 people, including HDP executives, were detained in the march and statement held in Van.   HAKKARI   The police attacked the crowd harshly in the Yüksekova district of Hakkari. HDP Iğdır MP Habip Eksik was injured. 20 people, including Mesopotamia Agency (MA) reporter Mazlum Engindeniz and JINNEWS reporter Rabia Önver, were detained.   DIYARBAKIR   HDP Deputy Co-Chair for Organisation Özlem Gündüz, HDP Party Assembly members Beybün Aslan and Raci Bilici, DBP Provincial Co-chairperson Hayrettin Altun, HDP Provincial Co-chairs Gülistan Atasoy and Zeyat Ceylan, HDP Provincial Co-Chair Mervan Yıldız, Emine İnan, Şadiye Hayme, MEBYA-DER Co-chairs Meryem Soylu, Mehmet Zeki Bağcık, Halil Memiş, Mithat Altaç, Mehmet Ali Altınkaynak, Hüsnü Aslan, Mehmet Şirin Gürbüz, Mehmet Asana, Sedat Yiğit, Murat Çoban, Şirin Şehir, Mehmet Oruç, Muharrem Bulat, Meryem Yıldız and at least 31 people, including Meryem, Leyla, Hebun, Sümeyye, Beytocan, Abidin and Vedat, whose surnames could not be learned, were detained.   ISTANBUL   At least 26 people, including HDK Co-spokesperson Esengül Demir and Mesopotamia Agency (MA) reporters Esra Solin Dal and Ömer İbrahimoğlu, were detained during the marches in Istanbul İstiklal Caddesi, Kadıköy and Esenyurt.   Hakkari Governor's Office defended HDP MPs Habip Eksik and Sait Dede's injuries as a result of police violence, with the words "They threw themselves on the ground to create a perception that they were beaten".   Hakkari Governor's Office made a statement regarding the police violence that attacked the October 9 conspiracy march for PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan in Yüksekova district. The governor's office claimed that HDP Iğdır MP Habip Eksik, who suffered two fractures in one of his legs during the police attack, and HDP Hakkari MP Sait Dede, who were taken to hospital, "threw themselves on the ground to create a perception".  (ss/gçö)
