Öcalan application from Amed Bar Association to Ministry of Justice 2022-12-14 15:06:02   AMED- Diyarbakır Bar Association has applied to the Ministry of Justice and the TMM for PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who is held in aggravated isolation.   Amed Bar Association announced that they applied to the Ministry of Justice and the Union of Turkish Bar Associations (TTB) on Monday, based on the application made by 107 member lawyers, on the grounds that they were prevented from meeting PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who was imprisoned in İmralı Type F Closed Prison, on the grounds that his professional activities were prevented.   In the petition made to the Ministry of Justice, signed by Bar Association President Nahit Eren, "The heavy isolation imposed in Imralı F Type High Security Closed Penal Institution" was stated in the written application made by 107 lawyers, who are members of the Diyarbakir Bar Association, to our Bar with the document registration number 1018 and dated 02.12.2022. They demanded that legal initiatives and applications be made before all relevant institutions and authorities, in particular the Union of Turkish Bar Associations and the Ministry of Justice, in order to end the conditions, to lift the ban on lawyers, to ensure the rights of clients arising from domestic and international legislation, and to ensure the fulfillment of their legal duties."   (ss)
