Lawyer Aslan: Government prefers isolation not solution 2022-12-22 13:04:23   URFA-One of the ÖHD executives, lawyer Mehmet Ali Aslan, stated that the government preferred the isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan not solution.   There has been no news since March 25, 2021 from PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and prisoners Ömer Hayri Konar, Veysi Ateş and Hamili Yıldırım, who are being held in İmralı High Security Closed Prison. Mehmet Ali Aslan, one of the central directors of the Association of Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD), whose initiatives continue against the aggravated isolation imposed on Öcalan and other prisoners, stated that the lawlessness in İmralı must end.   THE RIGHTS OF ÖCALAN WERE PREVENTED GOVERNMENT   Noting that lawyers and family visits are blocked on "disciplinary" grounds, Aslan said: "The government has been preventing us lawyers from meeting with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan for more than 3 years. For these reasons, which have no legal explanation, both the right of lawyers and a convict's most natural right. The right of Öcalan is disregarded by preventing the lawyer-family visits, which is the right choice. Abdullah Öcalan, like every convict, needs to be contacted with his family and lawyers."   'GOVERNMENT PREFERS ISOLATION NOT SOLUTION'   Emphasizing that the isolation is not legal, it is purely political and political, Aslan said: "The AKP-MHP has made this situation a policy. The government, which needs to lift the heavy isolation on Mr. Abdullah Öcalan and seek a solution to end the ongoing conflicts, prefers isolation not solution. The effects of the heavy isolation imposed on Öcalan directly or indirectly affected many parts of the country. The social and economic collapse caused by the turmoil and conflict that took place when the Imrali gates, the address of the solution, were closed, is the most basic indicator of this. This is the reason why the public has to pay the price of the social and economic collapse; therefore, the people need to stop getting gassed with artificial nationalist rhetoric and demand real democracy and law. For this reason, a step should be taken to lift the isolation on Mr. Öcalan and to find a solution to the Kurdish problem."   MA / Müjdat Can
