Check points established near Iraqi border line 2023-01-16 13:29:26   NEWS CENTER - Iraq Joint Operations Command announced that they have started to establish watchtowers and checkpoints on the borders of Turkey and Iran.   Tahsin Xefaci, spokesman of the Iraqi Joint Operations Command, announced that checkpoints will be established in the border regions. Making evaluations to Rojnews on the subject, Xefaci said that they started to establish checkpoints and watchtowers at the zero points of the border.   Expressing that they want to end the problem of violation of sovereignty rights, Tahsin Xefaci said, “This is an important issue for us. Efforts to control Iraq's borders with Iran and Turkey continue. These works started after the prime minister of our country gave the order to deploy forces on the borders of Turkey and Iran.”    Tahsin Xefaci stated that after the joint meetings of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Iraq and the Federated Kurdistan Region, coordination was also ensured with the peshmerga on the control of the Iraq-Turkey border.   Making a statement on December 22, 2022, Commander of the Border Guards, Muhammed Abdulvahap, announced that border guard forces would be deployed on the borders of Turkey and Iran. Abdulvahap said that 200 checkpoints would be established and 3,000 soldiers would be deployed.
