'Abdullah Öcalan's freedom is possible with the unity of the peoples'

	ISTANBUL - At the Labor and Freedom Alliance rally, citizens called for an end to the isolation in Imrali Prison and stated that Abdullah Öcalan's freedom will be achieved with the unity of the peoples.

	 

	"We should say stop to war, poverty and oppression," said the Labor and Freedom Alliance at Kartal Square in Istanbul. Tens of thousands of people attending the rally with the slogan "We should change it together" cried out for the end of the isolation and freedom on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has been held under heavy isolation conditions in İmralı Type F Prison and has not been heard from for 22 months.

	 

	Citizens attending the rally condemned the isolation policy of the government and stated that they should fight against isolation.

	 

	'ISOLATION WILL BE LIFTED WITH THE UNITY OF THE PEOPLE'

	 

	One of the citizens, Muhammed Durmaz, stated that the most important reason for his participation in the rally was the isolation on Abdullah Öcalan. Noting that the isolation must end as soon as possible, Durmaz said: “The isolation imposed on Öcalan is also applied to the Kurdish people. This isolation is applied to the peoples of Turkey and all the oppressed. The isolation will be lifted by the unity of the peoples. When the isolation is lifted, everyone will be free, have a will, and express themselves with their language, culture and art. We must be in the fields for isolation. What I want is the brotherhood of peoples. The peoples of Kurdistan and Turkey should live together. All we want is an end to the isolation on Öcalan.”

	 

	'ÖCALAN WILL GUIDE US'

	 

	Hatice Aydoğan also reminded that there was no news about PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan for more than 22 months. Stating that Abdullah Öcalan is the leader of the Kurdish people, Aydoğan expressed his concerns due to the lack of news, Aydoğan said: "The Kurdish people are against this isolation policy. If Öcalan is reached, he will guide us. The isolation came into effect due to Abdullah Öcalan's resistance. Öcalan is in isolation in the dungeon where he guides us. Öcalan is the president of all Kurds and is very important to women. He showed us the way to freedom. Thanks to him, women resist. Everyone needs to resist for the isolation to be lifted, there must be resistance in front of the dungeons.”

	 

	' ABDULLAH ÖCALAN IS A PEOPLE'S LEADER'

	 

	Stating that she accepts Abdullah Öcalan as a leader, Gülsüm Öztürk said: "Abdullah Öcalan should be allowed to meet with his family and lawyers. We cannot be free before Öcalan is free. Turkish state should allow his family and lawyer visit to him. Ill prisoners should be released. We women now want to see Öcalan among us.”

	 

	Noting that he does not find the isolation policy correct, Mehmet Demir said: "So many people are shouting for Abdullah Öcalan's freedom. He should be free now. Öcalan should address the people in the squares. After all, people love him very much."
