ÇHD: Güreşçi, who tortured to death in custody, lost his life 2023-02-13 10:12:36   NEWS CENTER - ÇHD announced that Ahmet Güreşçi, who was tortured to death in custody in Hatay, lost his life.   The Contemporary Lawyers Association (ÇHD) made a statement on the detention and torture in the earthquake region. In the statement made on the social media account of the association, it was stated that two people named Ahmet Güreşçi and Sabri Güreşçi were detained by the gendarmerie teams in the Büyükburç District of Hatay. It was reported that Ahmet Güreşçi, who was tortured to death in custody, lost his life.   The ÇHD shared the following statement on Twitter: "Today, Ahmet Güreşçi and Sabri Güreşçi were detained by gendarmerie teams from Hatay Büyükburç District at around 10:30. Ahmet Güreşçi, who was tortured to death in custody, lost his life. The death event has also been confirmed by us. Sabri Güreşçi, on the other hand, is still held in the same torture chamber, having been subjected to severe torture. 4 more people are in custody along with Sabri Güreşçi."   ATTORNEYS ARE THREATENED   In the statement, which states that lawyers from the ÇHD were threatened by the police saying "it will happen to you too" while they were present to follow the proceedings and document the torture, the statement said: "Sabri Güreşçi and other detainees should be immediately transferred to another unit. Both Sabri Güreşçi and our colleagues have no safety of life for our colleagues. Authorities should immediately intervene in this terrible arbitrariness."
