Earthquake victims: Except for my sister, my family is all dead 2023-03-06 15:09:18   ADIYAMAN- Eyüp Tufan Karakaş, who lost his mother, father, brother and mother of his wife in the earthquake, said: “I tried to get my family members out of the rubble with my own hands. If AFAD had come earlier, many of the people buried in this cemetery would have been alive. Except for my sister, my family is all dead.”   The number of people who lost their lives due to the earthquake in Adıyaman is still unknown; however, the cemeteries in the city show how heavy the disaster is. Adıyaman Yeni Cemetery in the city center is also full of tragic stories that make up this picture.   Eyüp Tufan Karakaş also lost his mother, father, older brother and mother of his wife in the earthquake. Karakaş's only 22-year-old sister remained. Trying to find solace in his brother's survival, Karakaş said that when he found his family under the rubble, they were hugging each other.   'I HAVE ONLY ONE SISTER'   Karakaş said that there was no official to save his mother, father and brother who were under the rubble, and that the bodies of family members were reached on February 8. Except for my sister, my family is all dead   'AFAD WAS COMING WITHOUT MATERIAL'   Expressing that they waited for hours in the hope that his family would be rescued immediately after the earthquake, Karakaş said: “I believed they would save my family, but they did not. None of my relatives are left. That day, a voice was heard from under the rubble saying, "Help, brother". We couldn't help. Many people came out on their own. If AFAD teams had arrived early, many of the people buried in this cemetery would have been alive. On the second day of the earthquake, none of them even had material in hand. My sister survived with her foot injured, they cut off my brother-in-law's finger. No one should experience the pain of loss.”
