Lawsuit against journalists of MA on the grounds of news against the state 2023-03-06 16:04:40   ANKARA - In the lawsuit filed against MA Correspondent Fırat Can Arslan and JINNEWS reporter Dilan Babat on the grounds of Article 6 of the TMK, the allegation was made about "so-called reporting against the Turkish State and its institutions".   Mesopotamia, following the funeral ceremony held in Gölyazı (Xelikan) Neighborhood of Konya's Cihanbeyli district on October 13 for Nagihan Akarsel, a member of the Jineology Research Center, who was murdered as a result of an armed attack in the city of Süleymaniye in the Federated Kurdistan Region on October 4, 2022. Agency (MA) reporter Fırat Can Arslan and JINNEWS reporter Dilan Babat were detained by the soldiers. Arslan and Babat, who were held in the village for a while, were released after their statements were taken at the Cihanbeyli District Gendarmerie Station. The investigation initiated by the Konya Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigation Bureau has been completed.   The indictment prepared against journalists Arslan and Babat on the charge of the 6th article of the Anti-Terror Law, which regulates the act of "targeting those who took part in the fight against terrorism", was accepted by the Konya 2nd High Criminal Court and was given for the first hearing on May 25.   'NEWS AGAINST THE STATE'   The indictment, in which the journalist and academician Akarsel was presented as a "being a member of an organization", alleged that "They made live broadcasts on social media regarding the funeral and burial proceedings in line with the purpose and ideology of the organization under the guise of making news against the Turkish State and its institutions".   GENDAMARMS IN THE LIVE BROADCAST IS A CRIME.   Konya Public Prosecutor Şahsuvar Yıldız, who claimed in the indictment that the journalists aimed to turn the funeral burial into a mass action, accused him of "showing a target" on the grounds that the gendarmes who were there during the live broadcast during the funeral follow-up.   In the indictment, a prison sentence of one to three years was demanded for journalists Arslan and Babat in accordance with Article 6 of the TMK.
