While houses, offices, public buildings, roads, bridges and tunnels were flooded due to the heavy rain in Urfa, one of the 6 people who were trapped in the Abide Junction tunnel, which was filled with water in the Haliliye district, escaped with their own means. Hours later, divers were brought in for those trapped in the tunnel. Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeynel Abidin Beyazgül, who came to watch the search and rescue efforts, was booed by the crowd gathered around and removed from the area. Anger escalated over the rumor that Beyazgül's bodyguard had drawn a gun to the public. Bayazgül was abducted from the area by the police and put into his vehicle. Thousands of people have gathered around the Abide Junction, where the search and rescue work continues, and they condemned the mayors and the government.
