Earthquake victim: Do not abandon your lands 2023-04-05 14:08:23   MARAŞ - Headman of Musolar District of Pazarcık, where the debris removal work has not started, Taylan Sapan stated that they are worried about being left alone and asked when the structures will be built in their villages.   While the debris removal works have not yet started in the rural neighborhoods of the Pazarcık district of Maraş, the earthquake victims are still unable to meet their many needs, especially health. In the Musolar (Payamlıbağ) neighborhood of Pazarcık, where the debris removal work has not started, 143 houses were destroyed and some houses were heavily damaged. Earthquake victims meet their needs due to the lack of portable toilets and showers, either around the tents or by entering their heavily damaged houses.   EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS HAVE SUBJECTED TO IMMIGRATION   Underlining the need for permanent methods in the next process, headman Taylan Sapan said: “How long will people be able to handle this process? What we need most in this process is the young people who can overcome this process. There is already an elderly population and they have chronic diseases. We are a village that has been subjected to immigration since the 90s due to financial situation. Some of them have to survive in European countries. So the old people are alone here. There is no child to take care of, no one to meet his needs; therefore, the upcoming construction process has made people anxious.”   THE CALL “DO NOT ABANDON YOUR LANDS”   Calling the earthquake victims not to leave their lands and villages, Sapan concluded his speech with the following words: “No place will make you as peaceful and happy as the tent on our own land, in our village, in front of our house. Leaving here won't fix the problem. I am not in favor of anyone leaving their village. I will try to fight it. If we leave this place without seeing this dark process, great trouble will begin there. I can say this for earthquake victims who can hear my voice. Do not abandon your own lands and your efforts. Let's not abandon these efforts. Let's fight. Let's build our houses again, let's act with the idea of living a life here again."   MA / Rukiye Adıgüzel
