Release of 30-year prisoner Babat delayed for the second time 2023-04-13 14:11:14 DİYARBAKIR - Release of Hamit Babat, a prisoner of 30 years, was delayed for the second time on the grounds of "not using water sparingly" and "not participating in spiritual activities".   Hamit Babat, a 30-year prisoner held in Bolu Type F Closed Prison, is not released because he does not accept the repentance imposed by the Administration and Monitoring Board (İGK). Although he finished his sentence on February 13, the report prepared by the IGK states that his execution was burned for 3 months for reasons such as "not using water sparingly", "not leaving the organization", "not making a petition of regret", "not participating in spiritual activities''. His release was delayed for 3 months for the second time on the grounds of the last minute IGK report on Babat, who was supposed to be released yesterday. The family, who went to Bolu from Amed(Diyarbakır) and waited for Babat at the prison gate, had to return as a result of the IGK's report.   WHO IS HAMİT BABAT?   Babat was detained in 1993 during a house raid in the Asiye (Doluçanak) village of Amed's Rezan (Bağlar) district. Babat was sentenced to 36 years of aggravated life imprisonment on charges of "destroying the unity and integrity of the state" at the State Security Court (DGM).
