Families support the protests demanding 'freedom' of their imprisoned children

	ŞIRNEX - Emphasizing that they support the actions of their imprisoned children on hunger strike demanding "freedom for Abdullah Öcalan", Families said: "We need to fulfill our responsibility towards them."

	 

	There is no news from PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who is held under severe isolation conditions in İmralı Type F High Security Prison. Reactions against the lack of news from Abdullah Öcalan continue. While the hunger strike started by political prisoners in prisons on November 27 demanding "Abdullah Öcalan's physical freedom and a solution to the Kurdish issue" grew day by day, relatives of the prisoners also started Adalat Watch in Amed(Diyarbakır), Çukurova, Wan(Van) and Istanbul.

	 

	As the protests gradually spread, a call was made from the families of the prisoners in Botan to "meet the demands".

	 

	'THE DEMAND OF PRISONERS ARE OUR DEMAND'

	 

	Taybet Acet, mother of Mustafa Acet, who is detained in Antalya Type S Closed Prison, said: "It is the responsibility of every individual to develop an attitude against isolation. Enough is enough of keeping our children in isolation. Let them end this oppression now. Our children's demands are also our demands. We are followers of their demands and causes. We support their demands until the end. We will not give up our cause until justice comes to this country. If we, those on the outside, had fulfilled our responsibility, perhaps the prisons would not have to bear this burden today. Nobody is doing anything outside. Prison conditions are already harsh, but they still approach the process more responsibly. We must also fulfill our responsibility towards them."

	 

	'WE MUST MAKE THEIR VOICES HEARD'

	 

	Nebahat Worker, mother of ill prisoner Naif İşçi in Ahlat Type T Closed Prison, condemned the aggravated isolation and said: " Political prisoners resisted for the sake of the oppressed. I salute the prisoners resisting in prisons and congratulate their actions. The key to peace and freedom is in İmralı. If Mr. Öcalan is released from prison today, a solution to the problems will be found. But neither his family nor his lawyers can hold any meetings with him. I condemn this isolation imposed on the prisons in İmralı. Mr. Öcalan must now gain his freedom, like the pioneers of all the peoples of the world. We all need to join hands and stand up and make our voices heard to the whole world. Only in this way can we lift the isolation imposed on our children and Mr. Öcalan. If necessary, we should all go to prisons and make this voice heard."

	 

	'WE WILL STAND UNTIL THE ISOLATION IS LIFTED'

	 

	Şirin Demir, mother of prisoner Celallettin Demir, who is in Elazığ Type T Closed Prison, said: "We, as the families of prisoners, will be on the streets until the demands are met. Our children are on a rotating hunger strike today, but if no results are obtained, they may start a death fast. This means corpses are found in prisons. The Kurds should do whatever they can. We will be standing until the isolation is lifted."
