Message from a prisoner on hunger strike

	RIHA - İsmet Karak, one of the prisoners who took part in the hunger strike launched in prisons to demand the freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, sent a message through his family: "We will continue to fight with determination to get out of this swamp."

	The "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, solution to the Kurdish issue" campaign, which was launched internationally on October 10 for the physical freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has been held in isolation in İmralı Type F High Security Prison for 25 years and has not been heard from for 33 months, continues. The action of political prisoners, who started a rotating hunger strike on November 27 as part of the campaign, has reached its 31st day.

	 

	İsmet Karak, who was held in Ankara Sincan High Security Closed Prison No. 2 and took part in the hunger strike, sent a message to the public through his family, with whom he had a phone conversation.

	 

	Stating that they will continue their actions until they get results, Karak said: “We will continue to fight with determination to get out of this swamp. We are currently on a 10-day rotating hunger strike as three friends. All our friends are taking their place in this action with great determination."

	 

	Calling on common sense for all segments of the ongoing resistance, Karak said: "As free prisoners, we will continue to shout out the demand for Mr. Öcalan's freedom with Zilan's spirit of self-sacrifice."

	 

	İsmet Karak, who was detained in Elbak district of Wan in 2012, was arrested and put in Van Type F Closed Prison. Karak, who was later exiled to Muş Type E and Erzincan Prison, was sent to Kırıkkale Prison after the aggravated life imprisonment sentence was approved by the Supreme Court. From there, Karak was transferred to Ankara Sincan No. 2 High Security Closed Prison, where he is held in a solitary cell.
