Hunger strike in Europe ended 2024-02-04 22:38:52 NEWS CENTER - The 3-day hunger strike action launched in Europe to draw attention to the isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Ocalan has ended. The 3-day hunger strike launched by the European Confederation of Oppressed Migrants (AVEG-KON), Prisoners' Voice Platform (TSP), Socialist Women's Union (SKB) and Young Struggle in many centers of Europe ended today.   The hunger strike in Basel, Switzerland, to support the hunger strikes that PKK and PAJK prisoners have been going on for 70 days against the absolute isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Ocalan and to draw attention to the serious human rights violations against political prisoners, was ended with a press statement.   On February 2, a 3-day hunger strike was launched simultaneously in Cologne, Germany, Paris, France, London, England and Basel, Switzerland. The hunger strike held at BEKSAM (Basel Education Culture and Art Center) in Basel was visited by a delegation from the Basel Democratic Kurdish Community Center (CDK-BL).   On behalf of CDK-BL, Mine Nazari made a speech here, saluting the hunger strike action.   Stating that they condemn the absolute isolation torture imposed on Abdullah Ocalan, Nazari said: "This isolation has turned into a policy implemented to all political prisoners today. We stand with the prisoners against the isolation and inhumane arbitrary practices spreading in the prisons of Turkey and Kurdistan. We will win our fight against fascism by uniting and growing."   Following Nazari's speech, Gulderen Sevim, who spoke on behalf of the hunger strike committee, said: “The hunger strike actions held in many centers and ended today, we condemn the policies of Turkish state fascism towards political prisoners, especially ill prisoners. Today, we are ending the 3-day hunger strike actions that we started here, albeit symbolically. But we will continue our fight against fascism with different forms of action."   The 3-day hunger strike ended after the statement of Sevim, who reiterated her call to all human rights organizations and democratic groups to raise their voice against the isolation and arbitrary practices on the prisoners.
