Call from Hüda Kaya's daughter before trial 2024-06-15 12:23:24   ISTANBUL - Her daughter Nurcihan Rençber, who made a call for Huda Kaya, whose trial will be held in Ankara on June 25, said: "I invite everyone who is in favor of right and justice to increase solidarity."   In the indictment prepared within the scope of the Kobanê Case, 38 aggravated life imprisonment and 19 thousand 680 years of imprisonment were requested for politician Hüda Kaya, who has been imprisoned in Marmara Closed Prison for 7 months. While the indictment was accepted by the Ankara 22nd High Criminal Court, Kaya will appear before the judge on June 25.       While there were reactions against Kaya's arrest, Islamic writers and thinkers started a petition titled "Justice for Huda Kaya". Kaya's daughter, Nurcihan Rençber, called for awareness for the hearing to be held on June 25.   'SHE DEFENDED THE VICTIM AGAINST THE OPRESSOR'   Emphasizing that her mother defended the victim against the oppressor throughout her life, regardless of religion, faith or disposition, Rençber said: “Our mother had this attitude before and after she became a member of parliament. As you know, she is currently imprisoned in Marmara Prison. We witness campaigns, support and solidarity from many different segments. This is a happy situation for us."   'RIGHT VIOLATIONS ARE EXPERIENCED IN PRISON'   Stating that her mother's morale and condition is good, Rençber touched upon the prison conditions. Rençber continued as follows: “You know the terms and conditions of the prison. Half of Turkey somehow has to deal with these bad conditions. If either people themself or a member of they family is a dissident, they end up in prison. There are many human rights violations and injustices in prisons. And these are still happening. As one of these people, my mother also faced and was the subject of these rights violations."   'NOT A LEGAL CASE, BUT A POLITICAL CASE'   Stating that the case against Kaya is a political case, Rençber said: “The fact that Huda Kaya is being held in prison unjustly is related to the fact that this case is political, not legal. In this sense, a common opinion has developed among the public. This is of course a matter of pride for us."  'A BLANK INDICTMENT'   Underlining that they have encountered these situations before, Rençber pointed out the headscarf struggles in the 1999s and said: “In 1999, we were in Malatya Type E Prison with my two sisters and my mother during our headscarf struggle. We learned from the press that we were being tried by death penalty. Now my mother is in prison again, facing 38 aggravated life sentences and nearly 20 thousand years in prison. We are faced with a very empty indictment demanding very heavy penalties."   CALL FOR SOLIDARITY   Stating that the trial was unfair and unlawful, Rençber said: "For this reason, I invite everyone who is in favor of rights, law and justice, regardless of their political opinions, to increase solidarity for Huda Kaya."
