Bahçeli: No one should expect the state to sit at the table 2024-10-15 12:13:34   ANKARA - Devlet Bahçeli called on Abdullah Öcalan, who has not been heard from for 43 months, to “liquidate the organization” and said: “No one should expect the state to sit at the table with terrorism.”    Turkish Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chair Devlet Bahçeli made statements on the agenda at the group meeting of his party. Drawing attention to the Israeli attacks, Bahçeli said: “The UN should immediately use force and the criminals should be punished. Israel's aims to spread the war to the region and its dreams of invading Syria after Lebanon are a very serious security threat against the Republic of Turkey and oppressed nations. The real target of the Zionist aggression that is likely to reach our borders and the global aggression behind it is clear. Negligence and indifference will open the door to heavy costs.”    TARGETED SPECIAL AND KURTULMUŞ   Targeting Republican Public’s Party (CHP) Chair Özgür Özel, “Mr. Özgür's statements after the closed session in the Parliament are a great delirium. The CHP's perspective is not a national perspective” he said.     Reacting to AKP's Numan Kurtulmuş, who stated that Article 3 of the Constitution should be amended, Bahçeli said: “The state is the nation and the nation is the state. The state is one and whole with its country and nation. Separating the two, evaluating them separately, and sometimes confronting them is not only an exorbitant mistake, but also a handicap and frustration of democratic bigots who cannot digest the honor of the state.”    Another issue on Bahçeli's agenda was his handshake with the deputies of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) at the opening of the new legislative year. Bahçeli made statements similar to those he had made in the past, saying: “There is no connection between terror and politics. Both politics and terror cannot fit into the same mold, cannot take refuge in the same mouth. Either politics or terror, either politics or weapons.”   'I EXTENDED MY HAND FOR THE HOMELAND, FOR THE NATION'   “The hand I extend is a hand without calculation. The hand I am extending is a sincere and well-intentioned hand. The hand I am extending is a notification to unite in Turkey, to unite in the Turkish nation. Those who have drawn different conclusions from my outstretched hand for days and made fabricated comments have of course fallen into the clutches of error and mistake. It would be useful for everyone to know that I am extending my hand for the homeland, the nation and the state, and that I sincerely wish to have a peaceful and tolerant atmosphere within us while harsh winds blow outside. We extend our hand not for a process, but for brotherhood” he said.     A CALL TO ÖCALAN UNDER ISOLATION   Bahçeli did not mention the name of Abdullah Öcalan, who has been held in absolute isolation in İmralı Type F High Security Closed Prison and has not been heard from for 43 months, and called on him to “liquidate the organization”.    Bahçeli said: “Let him unilaterally declare that terrorism is over and his organization will be liquidated. No one should expect the state to sit at the table with terrorism.”
