Today is the day to increase solidarity with Rojava women says Halide Türkoğlu 2024-12-22 12:13:35 ANKARA - Stating that they will not allow ISIS and its derivatives to be resurrected and their crimes to be legitimised, "Today is the day to increase solidarity with Rojava women" says DEM Party Women's Assembly Spokeperson Halide Türkoğlu and call on women to struggle.  Peoples Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Women's Assembly convened at the party's headquarters. Women's Assembly Spokesperson Halide Türkoğlu made statements.   Halide Türkoğlu started her speech by commemorating journalists Nazım Daştan adn Cihan Bilgin, who were murdered while following the developments in North and East Syrşa and said: "Cihan and Nazım were murdered not only because they conveyed the truth to us, but also because they exposed the special war policies of this governement in Rojava. The pen of Cihan and Nazım will not remain on the ground."   'WE WILL DEFEND WOMEN'S LIBERTARIAN LIFE'   Women resist against war policies wherever they are in the world said Halide Türkoğlu and added: "Today, no one should doubt that we will defent women's libertarian life built in North and East Syria under the leadership of women with the same belief and determination.    Stressed that the Syrian agenda is the priority agenda of women, Halide Türkoğlu said: "The attacks of the Turkish government against Rojava are attacks based on hostility to the Kurdish people. It is an attacks on women and their achievements. We will not allow the resurrection of ISIS gangs and their derivatives who massacred women in Shengal, Kobanî, Rojava, who sold women in slave markets, and legitimise the crimes committed by these gangs. We warn the political power, which sees North and East Syria as a threat to itself and attacks the free and equal life built here with gangs, that the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria may be a threat to your monist, sexist, militarist moder of governance, byt it is not a threat to us women who are the defenders of free and equal life."   Reacting to the attacks on North and East Syria, Halide Türkoğlu stated that the politics of war carried out through enmity against Kurdish people and women harms Turkey and that the honourable politics of peace will sustain Turkey.   IMIRALI ISOLATION    "The way to build honourable peace is to lift the absolute isolation of Mr. Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı" said Halide Türkoğlu and added: "Lifting the isolation is the opening of the road to honourable peace. Based on the solution of the Kurdish issue, which is the most burning problem of this country, it is the opening of the door to a common life together. It is an indication that violence against women and deepening women's poverty can be solved not through the politics of war but through the politics of honourable peace. The 22-year policy of the political power, which has tried to survive by turning isolation into a regime, has been bankrupt."   399 WOMEN MURDERED IN 11 MONTHS   Stating that the government legitimises the massacres of women with impunity policies, Halide Türkoğlu stated that if the Istanbul Convention had been implemented, women would not have been massacred. "In 11 months of 2024, 399 women were murdered by men. The male judiciary, which gives good behaviour discount to the perpetrators, is responsible for these murders. We will not allow women's murders to be legitimised by embracing war and violence policies and feeding sexism and nationalism. We have the power and organisation to defend our rights and lives more than ever," she said.    A YEAR FULL OF STRUGGLE AND RESISTANCE   Halide Türkoğlu stated that 2024 is a year of struggle against the policies of the government and said that as DEM Party, they continue to build a women's libertarian system. Halide Türkoğlu continued as follows: "The day is the day to increase solidarity with Rojava women. It is the day to increase the struggle against the attacks on North and East Syria. To defend the Rojava women's revolution is to defend peace. It is to defend freedom and equality. It is to defend life and nature. It is to defend building a life together with our differences without exploitation and denial. We call on all women and women's organizations; let's grow the struggle against the politics of war and to build a dignified peace led by women. In the face of the attacks against the new life being built under the leadership of women in North and East Syria, let us unite around our philosophy of 'jin, jiyan, azadî (Woman, life, freedom)' and grow solidarity with the women of Rojava. With this belief and determination, we have no doubt that 2025 will be the year for us to build this honourable peace in the strongest way."
