Public meetings: People expect clear steps from government 2025-08-06 10:54:30 MÛŞ/ERZİROM – Co-chairs Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Erzirom (Erzurum) and Mûş (Muş) said that the people conveyed their demand for the state to take steps in the Peace and Democratic Society Meetings.  With Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s “Call for Peace and Democratic Society”, a significant progress has been made in the solution of the Kurdish issue through democratic and peaceful methods.  Following the PKK’s decision to dissolve to dissolve and disarm, a 51-member commission was established in the Parliament.    DBP Muş Provincial Co-Chair Yılmaz stated that Abdullah Öcalan was subjected to multi-dimensional isolation and said that the isolation was eased with the struggle. Stating that the isolation has not been completely eliminated, Yılmaz underlined that the formation of a social struggle line at this point will result in the elimination of isolation in all its dimensions.    Pointing to the decision of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) on the violation of Abdullah Öcalan's right to hope, Yılmaz said: "There is something that exceeds the criteria set out by the ECHR based on the European Convention on Human Rights. However, I think it is more meaningful to answer the question 'How to get out of this chaos?' rather than just looking at the right to hope."    'ABDULLAH OCALAN PUT FORWARD A CLEAR PERSPECTIVE'   Stating that Abdullah Öcalan's call revealed a clearer perspective than the society had ever expected, Yılmaz said: "The society also understood this in real terms. In the meetings we held, what the society actually expects from the government is to take a clear step. After this stage, legal arrangements are required for this group to return to politics and society. The place where these regulations will actually be discussed is the parliamentary commission. The root of this problem actually needs to be solved in the Parliament. The solution to this problem lies in the function of the commission in the Parliament."    'THE STATE REALISED THAT THE INTERLOCUTOR IS OCALAN'   DBP Erzirom Provincial Co-Chair Karakaş reminded that the isolation against Abdullah Öcalan continues. Karakas pointed out that Ocalan is the interlocutor of the solution in the state.   Karakaş concluded: "Work on peace has started. We are also holding district by district meetings for the construction process. We have tried to explain this process to our people and to carry out this process together with our people and to fulfil our part against the call of the century. In Erzurum, we held public meetings in about 40 villages. What our people want from us first and foremost is peace. The people expect a solution to the Kurdish issue."
