'Heval Birako' film dedicated to journalist Nazım Daştan 2025-09-22 14:24:36   NEWS CENTER - Rojava Film Commune has completed the film "Heval Birako", whose script is based on the story of journalist Nazım Daştan. The film was dedicated to Nazım Daştan, a journalist killed by Turkish drones.   The film "Heval Birako", shot by the Rojava Film Commune, is dedicated to the memory of journalist Nazım Daştan. The story of the film, directed by Numan Yiğit, was written by Nazım Daştan and the screenplay was written by Önder Çakar.   FILMING PROCESS   Filming began on 7 August 2024 and ended on 7 October 2024. A test shoot was also made for the preparatory phase. The 1 hour and 53 minutes long film will meet the audience for the first time at the Rojava International Film Festival.    The film "Heval Birako" tells the story of two brothers torn apart by DAESH. DAESH trains the brothers to use them against their own people and culture. However, in the end, the two brothers are reunited thanks to their longing for each other and their bond.    Director Numan Yiğit said: "Heval (Comrade) Nazım Daştan and Cihan Bilgin were brutally murdered. Nazım's effort is very big in this story. We dedicated this film to him to keep his memory alive."   FIRST SCREENING AT THE FESTIVAL   "Heval Birako" will be premiered at the Rojava International Film Festival. The festival will start on 13 November in the North and East Syrica city of Qamishlo and will last for seven days. The film will meet the audience at the opening of the festival.   On 19 December 2024, journalists Cihan Bilgin and Nazım Daştan were following a news report when their car was targeted and bombed by a Turkish drone on the road between Tishreen Dam and Sirîn city in Euphrates Canton. Both journalists were killed in the attack.
