Vannadocia: Cappadokia of Van awaits visiters

	VAN- One of the most important touristing resorts of Van, Başkale is a site known as Vannadocia, doesn't attract enough attention. Residents wants the site to be introduced just like 'fairy chimneys ' (erosion columns) in Nevşehir.

	 

	As a result of volcanic eruption spreading around, another place with the same formation with the fairy chimneys in Nevşehir, which is formed by eroding with the wind and water power of the material such as ash, tuff with a loose structure, is located in the Yavuzlar (Taxık) neighborhood of Van, Başkale district.

	 

	17 THOUSAND FAIRY CHIMNEYS PRESENT

	 

	The fairy chimneys of the volcanic Yigit Mountain erupted by the erosion of the rocks, rain water and wind in the neighborhood, which is 33 kilometers away from the town center, attract attention with its similarities to Cappadocia in Ürgüp district of Nevşehir. The site called 'Vannadocia' due to those similarities hosts a number local and foreign tourists especially in the summer, and has 17 thousand fairy chimneys, 35 caves, 12 cave homes.Below the fairy chimneys there are earth-sheltered homes and the upper part of the castle is the historic Rikan Castle.

	 

	IT'S BEING USED FOR PROPAGANDA

	 

	Vanadoccia is advertised as a tourist destination by the Van Provincial Directorate of Tourism and the trustees as "The place purified of PKK". The people living in the region are disturb wtih the way it's been advertised and want the place advertised by its beauty.
