Historical bathhouse in Sur was turned into an upscale restaurant 2018-12-25 11:39:09   DİYARBAKIR- In the historic Sur district, a luxurious restaurant was opened in the 16th century Vahap Aga Bath in the urban site with the permission of the Protection Board.   The curfew announced on December 2, 2015 in 6 neighborhoods that witnessed armed clashes in the historic Sur district of Diyarbakir on the UNESCO World Heritage List left behind its third year.In the district, 334 historical buildings, 87 of which are registered and 247 of which are listed to be registered, have been demolished.   HISTORIC BATHHOUSE TURNED INTO A RESTAURANT   In Sur district, historical places that have been restored in accordance with the demands of individuals or institutions are converted into luxury workplaces. One of these historical buildings is Vahap Ağa Bathhouse on Gazi Avenue. Built in the 16th century, the historic bathouse has taken its appearance away from its original identity under the name of restoration.The historic bathhouse located  in the Urban Conservation Area was converted into a luxury restaurant two weeks ago with the permission of the Diyarbakır Preservation Regional Conservation Council.The restaurant continues its activity in the historical bath.
