171 Journalists imprisoned on the Day of the Working Journalists

	İSTANBUL- 171 journalists will be in prison on the Day of the Working Journalists on January 10. The journalists on the outside who are determined to deliver the truth to the people against all oppression, said: "We will be in the streets, making news like our friends in  prison want to be. We will be their voice."

	 

	Many journalists will be inside prison walls at the Working Journalists Day which has been celebrated on January 10 since 1961. According to the report of Free Journalists Initiative (ÖGİ), 521 journalists stood trial, 112 journalists were sentence to a total of 547 years of prison time, 3 journalists were sentenced to life in 2018. According to the report, while 141 journalists were taken under custody doing their job, 64 journalists were arrested, 71 journalists are being sued and 171 journalists are still in prison in 2018.
