Ministry rejects TTB's request for Leyla Güven 2019-01-22 10:50:29 DİYARBAKIR- TTB Hunger Strike Monitoring Committee Member Cegerxwin Polat stating that the days after the 60th are very risky days of hunger strikes, said the application they made to the ministry to form an independant committee to monitor Leyla Güven was rejected.   While the hunger strike of Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair and People's Democratic Party (HDP)  Hakkari Deputy Leyla Güven who is protesting the isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan is in its 76th day, the hunger strikes of the prisoners supporting her is in their 38th day. While Leyla Güven is now having difficulty in consuming liquids, Cegerxwin Polat, member of the Turkish Medical Association (TTB) Hunger Strike Monitoring Committee, evaluated her health problems.   Polat who stated that he has been hearing from the prisons about the health problems of hunger strikers, said about Leyla Güven, we hear she is suffering from fatigue,nausea, vomiting and fluid intake.   Polat, stating that Güven's relatives have applied to Diyarbakır Medical Chamber (DTB)via her lawyers regarding her hunger strike, DTB have applied to Diyarbakır Type E Prison Prosecutor, said: " We requested an independent physicians committee to be established to monitor her health, but we were rejected by the Ministry of health. They stated that they did not find it appropriate, and that they are handling the required  interventions themselves."   Polat, who stated that they were not surprised by the respond, said: As we know from the past, the attitude of the state towards hunger strikes are certain, but as TTB, we are responsible for having results about the applications we get."
