Call for participation in the final hearing of journalist Sayılğan: Its journalism on trial 2019-01-24 10:43:43   MUŞ- The final hearing of journalist İdris Sayılğan who have been in prison for 3 years and 3 months because his activitis as a journalist was considered crimes, will be held at Muş 2nd Criminal Court tomorrow. Attorneys of Sayılğan,professional organizations and his family have made a call for participation to the final hearing and said journalism is being tried.   İdris Sayılğan, a reporter of Dicle News Agency (DİHA) which was shot down with a law decree, was arrested on October 25, 2016. His activities as a journalist was considered evidence of crime.The hearing of Sayılğan in which he is being tried with a sentence of up to 15 years with the charges of 'being a member of an illegal organization' and 'propaganda of an illegal organization' will be held at Muş 2nd Criminal Court tomorrow. Sayılğan's attorney Barış Oflas said, he must be released now that he has been in prison for 2 years and 3 months.   Free Journalists Initiative spokesperson Hakkı Boltan who followed through most of Sayılğan's hearings, reminding of his being detained for 2 years and 3 months said he must be released immediately. Boltan said: "I invite everyone to participate in the hearing for freedom of  press and freedom of expression. It is journalism being prosecuted here. It is very important for the freedom of the press to have people attending  this hearing.
