Uğur Mumcu was commemorated 2019-01-25 12:19:07   İSTANBUL- Journalist Uğur Mumcu was commemorated at the 26th anniversary of his murder with the event 'To be a journalist in Turkey, To stay a journalist in Turkey'.   Turkish Journalists Association (TGC) and Kadıköy Municipality have held a forum in Kadıköy Caddebostan Culture Center called  'To be a journalist in Turkey, To stay a journalist in Turkey' to commemorate journalist Uğur Mumcu who was killed in a bombed attack in Ankara in 1993. Journalist/ Writer Altan Öymen, T24 Editorial Director Doğan Akın, Evrensel Newspaper Executive Editor Fatih Polat, Journalist/ Writer Orhan Erdinç, Birgün Newspaper Executive EditorSemra Kardeşoğlu and PEN Turkey President Zeynep Oral, Kadıköy Mayor Aykurt Nuhoğlu, TGC President Turgay Olcayto attended the event.   Kadıköy Mayor Aykurt Nuhoğlu started his speach by commemorating Uğur Mumcu. Nuhoğlu said: "The parliament have been annihilated. We are ruled by one person only. Press is declared null and void.Fascism feeds of silence and darkness. We have to shout out in every walk of life. That's how we get through this."   TGC President Turgay Olcayto said: "Turkey have been ruled by coups and martial laws since its foundation. Uğur Mumcu was a journalist standing against this fact. That's what made him a target."
